Dr. Torree McGowan, MD, FACEP, is a graduate of Oregon Health and Science University. She completed her emergency medicine residency with the US Air Force through the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. She then served 12 years Active Duty military and is a combat veteran with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. She is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the Oregon Air National Guard. She currently works at St Charles Medical Group in Central Oregon. She is a nationally recognized speaker on disaster preparedness and mass casualty response and serves on numerous national committees with the American College of Emergency Physicians. She lives on a hay farm in Culver with her husband, their two boys, 5 horses, 3 dogs, and a cat.

In this episode, Dr. McGowan discusses navigating the COVID-19 pandemic as a mom, wife, and physician. She discusses how she rearranged her life and got clearer on her values and priorities to be more present as a mom and wife.  We discuss the addiction of being busy and how to begin to unhook yourself. We get into recovering from trauma, from being a veteran, a doctor, and a parent during the pandemic.

MicroSkills is built on one core, easy-to-learn principle: every big goal, complicated task, healthy habit, and, yes, even what we think of as character traits, can be broken down into small, learnable, skills that can be practiced, and incorporated real-time. Pre-order wherever you buy your books or on Amazon; launches Apr 16.
